Grégoire Roos will begin his new role of Programme Director for Europe and Russia in October.

Chatham House is pleased to announce the appointment of Grégoire Roos as Programme Director for Europe and Russia. Grégoire will begin his new role on 1 October.

Grégoire is an expert in European geopolitics and has been working as the Head of Political Dialogue at the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt since 2021, focusing on international security, economic policy and climate and energy.

Through more than a decade of experience in the public and private sectors, Grégoire has fostered expertise spanning European policy integration, North-South relations, the transatlantic relationship, international security and the geopolitics of the energy transition.

He and our senior researchers will focus on security, including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine (where our Ukraine Forum continues ground-breaking work), the economic challenge for Europe, its place in the world, and the geopolitical shifts around Russia and its neighbours.

Director and CEO of Chatham House Bronwen Maddox said: ‘I am delighted that Grégoire will take on the leadership of these crucial areas of research and convening at Chatham House.

‘His broad expertise will be invaluable in guiding our programmes’ essential work on the future of Europe and Russia’s foreign policy through what is a critical and uncertain time for the region.’

Before his current role, Grégoire worked at the United Nations Development Programme in Africa, the OECD and as a geopolitical analyst in the financial industry.

Grégoire also sits on the High-Level Group on European Strategic Interdependence of the World Economic Forum, and is a David Rockefeller Fellow of the Trilateral Commission as well as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Delphi Economic Forum.
